U.S. Lawmakers and EU Officials Call for Bold Climate Actions ahead of UN Climate Summit

On the eve of the 2019 UN Climate Summit in New York (September 23), the European Union and Third Generation Environmentalism (E3G) spearheaded two events in Washington, DC, offering a preview of the Summit and calling on all countries to accelerate their transition towards a low-carbon economy.

Five members of Congress with key responsibilities on climate and environmental affairs, four European ambassadors, several climate negotiators, and other leading figures of the decarbonization effort pointed out the urgency to ramp up ambition and explained what they expected the Summit to deliver on.

At the UN Climate Summit, the EU will support a global commitment on net neutrality by 2050 and will present its plans to further boost climate finance worldwide — the EU currently provides 40% of global climate funding.
