Marking 25 Years of the WPS Agenda, EU Ambassador Hosts Women Survivors of Conflict from Nepal

31.10.2025

To commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) Agenda, the EU Delegation to Nepal held an interaction with the members of the Conflict Victim Women’s Network from across Nepal.

Today, we mark the 25th anniversary of the Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) Agenda, a milestone that reminds everyone that women are vital to building and sustaining peace.

To commemorate this day, we were honoured to host members of the Conflict Victim Women’s Network (CVWN) from across Nepal at the Delegation of the European Union to Nepal.

Their advocacy reminds us why the WPS Agenda, rooted in UN Security Council Resolutions 1325 and 1820, is so important: it ensures the rights, protection, and agency of women and girls are upheld, and guarantees their meaningful participation in every stage of conflict prevention, peace-making, peacebuilding, and post-conflict recovery.

As a longstanding supporter of Nepal’s progress on the WPS Agenda, we listened to CVWN members share their insights on the implementation of the National Action Plan II. We also reaffirmed our commitment to supporting these efforts so that women continue to have a strong voice in shaping the country’s future.

Through the EU’s ongoing “Sharing and Amplifying Her Allegorical Stories- SAHAS for Justice 3.0" project, implemented by The Story Kitchen and CVWN, we are working to support survivors of the insurgency, helping them access to justice, rebuild their confidence and lives, and contribute to their communities’ development.

Their courage inspires us every day, and their leadership reminds us that lasting peace is only possible when women are at the table with their voices meaningfully represented.
