EU film festival 2023 celebrates year of skills

The Festival is proudly brought to you by the Delegation of the European Union to Namibia in partnership with the EU Member States present in Namibia: Germany, Finland, France, Portugal, Spain, plus Italy represented by the Italian Club, and the Embassy of Poland in Pretoria. Our Namibian counterparts in hosting the festival are the Ministry of Information Communication and Technology through Namibia Film Commission, Filmmakers Association of Namibia and Jam Events (Event Organiser).

The Delegation of the European Union in Namibia and its Member States in collaboration with the Local Film Industry are hosting the EU Film Festival 2023 in the nation's capital, Windhoek. The EU Film Festival 2023 will run from the 4th of October to the 29th of November, with screenings every Wednesday at 7 PM  at The Village Opera House, Liliencron Street, Eros. . It promises to be an exciting and enriching experience for all of us, an opportunity to immerse ourselves in the magic of storytelling through the lens of a camera.

The EU Film Festival is more than just a showcase of cinematic excellence; it is a celebration of our shared commitment to fostering cross-cultural dialogue and inclusivity. It serves as a testament to our dedication to regional and international integration, celebrating the power of cinema in transcending borders and bringing people together. The theme of this year's festival, "Year of Skills," demonstrating our collective dedication to fostering talent and creativity, which are the lifeblood of any thriving society.

EU's Deputy Head of Mission, Mrs Gosia Lachut said: "Over the course of this festival, we will have the privilege of screening eight outstanding European films, each a unique tribute to the diversity of our continent's cinematic talent. Additionally, we are thrilled to present three remarkable Namibian short films, showcasing the growing talent and creativity in the Land of Brave. These films will take us on a journey through different cultures, stories, and perspectives, reminding us of the universality of human experiences."
