During the week of July 22nd, the EU Delegation offered training for young diplomats by experts from the College of Europe brought to Uruguay specifically for the activity.

The training, titled "The European Union: how it works and its relations with Uruguay", targeted young Uruguayan diplomats and was in charge of College of Europe experts Carme Colomina, Alejandro Ribó Labastida and María Luisa Sánchez Barrueco. It took place mainly at the Artigas Institute for diplomatic development of the Uruguayan Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The training was offically inaugurated at the Reinaldo Gargano Amphitheater of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs by Ambassador Karl-Otto König and Professor Carme Colomina, on behalf of the European Union, and Ambassadors Carlos Amorín and Pablo Sader, on behalf of Uruguay.

In his address, Ambassador König recalled that this training was the second of its kind offered by the EU Delegation for Uruguayan diplomats, and underlined that he hoped there would be more in the future.

The training included simulation exercises of EU negotiations, both of Council trade negotiations and of negotiations in the field of foreign policy, including crisis simulations.

At the end of the training, a closing ceremony took place led by Ambassador Karl-Otto König and Ambassador Pablo Sader. Ambassador König stressed that he hoped that the course had given participants a better understanding of how the European Union works and would help advance the common bilateral agenda.

Participants received diplomas from Ambassadors König and Sader in the presence of the professors from the College of Europe.

At the end of the ceremony, a cocktail was offered which allowed for subsequent exchanges between the participants and their professors in a relaxed atmosphere.
