The Regional Strategic Communications Seminar for Press and Information Officers and Communication and Coordination Officers of Anglophone Countries took place in Windhoek, Namibia from the 28th to the 31st of March 2017. The event was attended by approximately 48 participants.
The main aim of the SEminar is to serve as a platform for an interactive exchange between headquarters staff and Information and Communication Officers in Delegations on how to better communicate and present information on Development Cooperation and EU Policies. Furthermore, colleagues have the chance to exchange experiences and best practices and consolidate networking among them.
The Seminar covered a wide range of topics, amongst others: Devco regional priorities; effective communication of development results; public diplomacy; social media guidelines; culture in external relations and communicating the new development paradigm (SDGs). Furthermore local speakers presented best practice on a cultural project, namely the 'Livingstone Linyanti Museum' that was supported by the EU Delegation in Windhoek and seasoned journalist Gwen Lister gave a presentation on the Media Scene in Namibia. Other strategic topics covered included the EU Global Strategy and the upcoming EU-Africa Summit that is slated for November 2017.
