Marc Fiedrich took up his post as Head of Delegation of the European Union in Myanmar in August 2025. This is his second posting in South-East Asia, having previously served as Ambassador of the European Union to Timor-Leste.

Prior to his engagement in the region, Mr Fiedrich spent more than ten years working on crisis response, conflict prevention and peacebuilding with the EU’s Service for Foreign Policy Instruments (FPI), including as Acting Director and Head of Service.

Marc Fiedrich holds a Masters and a Doctoral degree in Development Studies (Institute of Development Studies, University of Sussex, UK). Since joining the European institutions in 2003, he also served as Head of the Good Governance Team in the EU Delegation to Nigeria (2003 - 2007) and as Head of the Development Team in the EU Delegation to Venezuela (2007 - 2011). Prior to his assignments with the EU, he was an ethnographic researcher in Uganda (1997 - 2000) and worked with several NGOs, principally in Africa.

 

Mr Fiedrich is married and without children.
