Text

Today and tomorrow, High Representative/Vice-President Mogherini will attend the NATO Summit together with the President of the European Council, Donald Tusk and the President of the European Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker, in line with the two organisations' commitment to strengthen mutual cooperation. On Wednesday evening, the High Representative will attend the dinner for Foreign Affairs Ministers. On Thursday, she will participate in the session on Operation Resolute Support in Afghanistan.

Tomorrow, in the margins of the NATO Summit, High Representative/Vice-President Mogherini will take part in the meeting of the Global Coalition to Counter Da'esh. The EU contributes to the objectives of the Global Coalition through cooperation with countries in the Middle East and North Africa on counter-terrorism and through projects related to countering radicalisation and preventing violent extremism, stabilisation and border security.

High Representative Mogherini will have a number of bilateral meetings in the margins of the two meetings.

Federica Mogherini will also on Thursday host the US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, at the European External Action Service for a bilateral meeting. The two will discuss a range of foreign and security policy issues.

The High Representative and the Secretary of State will then co-chair, also alongside European Commission Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič, Commissioner Miguel Arias Cañete, and US Secretary of Energy, Rick Perry, the 8th EU-US Energy Council. The Energy Council will provide an opportunity for the EU and the United States to jointly address energy security challenges and to look at ways to enhance their energy-related cooperation.

Audio-visual coverage will be available on EbS.
