"The EU welcomes Myanmar as 171st State Party to the Biological and Toxin Weapons Convention. We congratulate Myanmar on taking this important step to support our efforts to achieve a universal ban on the development, production and stockpiling of biological weapons. We encourage the small number of States not yet Party to the Convention to follow suit in order to ensure the global prohibition and elimination of these terrible weapons.
The EU remains committed to working with Myanmar as an active member of the international community and calls upon Myanmar to take further steps to strengthen the international non-proliferation and disarmament regime."
