Ending poverty has always been the main aim of the European Union's development cooperation with partner countries around the world. Our focus on the economic, social and environmental aspects of development generating economic growth is in line with the aim of maintaining our natural resources and protecting the rights of the most vulnerable. This also means going beyond aid alone, by cooperating with partners to improve governance and promote investment, both within partner countries and in Europe. In this way, we can make development truly sustainable for many generations to come.
