The security and humanitarian situation in the Cabo Delgado province has been continuously and seriously deteriorating since 2017, which led to the internal displacement of more than 800 000 people and over 3000 deaths.
To note that the launch of the EUTM Moçambique coincided with the visit of the joint EU – ACP parliamentary mission, led by the EU MP Carlos Zorrinho, which visited an accommodation camp in Metuge, Cabo Delgado, for families displaced because of the extremist violence, and interacted with the provincial authorities, namely the Governor and the State Secretary. The EU – ACP mission was an opportunity to reinforce parliamentary dialogue and cooperation between the EU, the ACP, and the Mozambican Parliament.
