MPCC EUTMs Commanders' Conference (8-9 Nov 2021)

The MPCC EUTMs Commanders' Conference took place the 8th and 9th November 2021. This conference is an annual event organized by the MPCC at the military strategic level and is chaired by the MPCC Director Vice Admiral Hervé Bléjean. The conference this year took place with the physical presence of all the participants.

 

Distinguished guests, including the EEAS Secretary General, Mr Stefano Sannino, the Chairman of the EUMC, General Claudio Graziano, the EEAS Deputy Secretary General for CSDP-CR, Mr Charles Fries, the EEAS ISP Director, Mr Stefano Tomat the CPCC Director, Mr Francisco Esteban Perez, the EPF Administrator, Mr Uwe Harms, and the ICRC Senior Armed Forces Delegate, Mr Chris Hall, participated as speakers. They expressed their appreciation to the respective Mission Force Commanders’ efforts and achievements relating to their success in carrying out the missions’ mandates. They also gave their view on the EU CSDP Training Missions and the challenges they face in a challenging geopolitical environment. The credibility and the feasibility of the EU, the cooperation with all the relevant third party actors and the positive vision of the local population were highlighted as important elements for the success of the four EU training missions.

During the conference the four MFCdrs of EUTM Somalia, Mali, RCA and Mozambique had the opportunity to interact with the Director MPCC, the Deputy Director/COS MPCC and the rest of the participants, to discuss interesting topics concerning their Area of Operation and receive guidance.

The MPCC Commanders’ Conference not only promotes the MPCC effort in planning and conducting the four non-executive military missions in Mali, Somalia, RCA and Mozambique but it highlights the efficiency of the EUTMs in delivering their non – executive mandates as well. All EUTMs have proven their credibility to the host Nations and the international partners in all of the respective Mission Areas.
