EU relations with the Republic of Mauritius, the Republic of Seychelles and the Indian Ocean Commission (IOC)
The European Union (EU) has a partnership of 40 years with the Republic of Mauritius. Relations between Mauritius and the European Union (EU) are very good having seen a continuous intensification over the years. Mauritius has been one of the countries that has benefited most from the EU-ACP (Africa Caribbean Pacific) cooperation and the EU has been closely associated to the development and diversification of the economy of Mauritius.
Relations between Seychelles have intensified in recent years. Much has been achieved in areas such as trade, development cooperation, governance & justice and the environment.
EU partnership with the IOC has been effective for over 30 years. The EU-IOC cooperation spans over various thematics including environment, biodiversity, climate change, small island developing states (SIDS), maritime security and fisheries. Under the 10th European Development Fund (from 2007), the IOC is implementing programmes for a total amount of 107 million euros.
