PAIRE - Institutional Support Project for Education Reform in Mauritania

Objectif: Support for the Reform of the Education Sector and the Implementation of National Education Policies
Expected Results:
Result 1:
Sustainably improve the pedagogical and physical quality, accessibility, availability, and use of textbooks and other teaching materials within the education system, in order to enhance the quality and relevance of teaching.
Result 2:
Strengthen the administrative and pedagogical management of the education system through institutional reforms within the central departments of the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training, the public institutions under the authority of the Ministry of National Education and the Reform of the Education System (MENRSE), and at the decentralized level.
Two Components:
1. Support for the Reform of the School Textbook Supply Chain
- Improvement of textbook availability in classrooms
- National textbook strategy, including digital resources
- Oversight and management of the textbook supply chain
- Teacher training
2. Support for the Steering of Education Policies
- Planning and monitoring of the reform
- Improvement of public sector management
- Build the capacity of the education community at both central and decentralized levels
Direct distribution of textbooks to schools – Strategic principle:
While remaining the property of the State, textbooks are managed in a participatory manner to ensure maximum longevity and to guarantee the availability of quality teaching materials each year.
