MIRECAM - Agropastoral-Based Socio-Economic Integration of Displaced Persons and Host Communities in Hodh El Chargui
 
The project contributes to better inclusion of displaced persons and refugees in Hodh El Chargui and to the creation of socio-economic opportunities for the local population and displaced persons, with a particular focus on women, in the agropastoral sector. Improving the management of agropastoral resources as a lever for preventing social tensions and supporting local actors as key stakeholders in the inclusion of displaced persons will be at the core of the intervention.
Overall objective:
To support actors in Hodh El Chargui in better understanding the challenges related to population displacement for the benefit of the region’s socio-economic development, within the framework of Mauritania’s international commitments.
Expected Results
Result 1: The capacities of local actors to better anticipate and manage the consequences of population displacement on socio-economic dynamics in their territories are improved.
Result 2: The management of pastoral resources is enhanced to prevent or mitigate conflicts and social tensions that may arise from population displacement.
Result 3: The provision of adapted socio-economic opportunities is improved for displaced persons and host communities, with particular attention to women.
