19.08.2025

The FLEURIR Project – Fostering the Urban, Environmental, Economic and Social Integrated Ecosystem of Rosso – is implemented through a triangular partnership between FAMSI (Andalusian Fund of Municipalities for International Solidarity), the Municipality of Rosso in Mauritania, and the Municipality of Podor in Senegal.

The overall objective of the project is to strengthen governance for an integrated and sustainable urban development of Rosso through triangular cooperation actions among local authorities and the valorization of the transboundary river resource, focusing its intervention on the cross-border river ecosystem.

To achieve this, the project pursues the following specific objectives:

  • (SO1) Strengthen and consolidate sound social and environmental governance in Rosso-Mauritania, with the support of peer partner cities, in the effective management and implementation of its urban affairs, in consultation with and with the active participation of its inhabitants;
  • (SO2) Green the natural landscape and economic activities of Rosso and its surroundings by establishing mechanisms for the protection and valorization of its endogenous resources;
  • (SO3) Improve employability and social inclusion through support for innovative, clean, and circular economic activities that respect the environment, in line with the Green Deal.
