Deployment of a Second High-Speed Submarine Cable for Mauritania

Through a €25 million loan from the European Investment Bank (EIB), this connection to a second submarine cable, EllaLink, will provide a backup solution to the country’s current single submarine cable, ACE (Africa Coast to Europe), as well as additional data transmission capacity to cope with the growing volume of traffic. This cable will also offer resilient international data connectivity and additional capacity to Mauritania’s landlocked neighboring countries.
The connection to the ACE high-speed submarine cable (Africa Coast to Europe) was carried out through an EIB loan of €7.3 million in 2010.
This project is a flagship initiative of the European Union Global Gateway strategy in Mauritania within the digitalization sector.
