"THE SITUATION HAS CHANGED A LOT IN TERMS OF MILITARY JUSTICE"

For the first time in the history of Mali, three criminal cases (relating to crimes against the integrity of persons and morals) were entered on the hearing roll of a military court.
The speech by Colonel Soumaila Bagayoko, representative of the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Bamako Military Court, was for EUCAP a recognition of the fruitful partnership that the Mission has forged with the internal security forces in this area.

After three years of work on the issue of accountability and the fight against impunity within these forces, with an emphasis on the development of provost capacities, military justice and internal inspection services, the results of these accompanying actions appear visible in the facts and in the eyes of public opinion. This is "one of the most important results of our work, underlined the Head of Mission of EUCAP Sahel Mali, Hervé Flahaut, who attended the opening ceremony on Wednesday 10 November 2021 of the first session of the criminal Chamber of the Bamako Military Tribunal.
