During his visit, General Graziano had the precious occasion to illustrate to the Slovak political and military representatives the latest steps adopted by the EU in the field of security and defence, and discuss with them the Union’s initiatives, aiming at increasing the cooperation amongst Member States and making the EU defence more robust.

Particularly, the Chairman had an office call with the State Secretary of the Slovak Ministry of Defence, Mr. Róbert Ondrejcsák, and shared with him fruitful discussions on Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP) military Missions and Operations, and the ongoing projects stemming from the implementation of the EU Global Strategy.

After a meeting with Mr. Anton Hrnko, Chairman of the Slovak Committee for Defence and Security, General Graziano also underlined that it had been a “very open and frank discussion on the importance of keeping the momentum to increase the European Defence, and make the European Union a credible Security Provider”.

Finally, General Graziano met the Slovak State Secretary of Foreign & European Affairs, Mr. Lukáš PARÍZEK. This was a precious occasion for “fruitful talks on the EU tools to fully implement the Global Strategy by developing concrete PESCO projects as a way to make EU stronger that also means stronger NATO" the Chairman underlined after the meeting.

“I believe that time is ripe to speak louder about European Defence and to explain clearly why there isn’t an alternative to a strong EU able to ensure our citizens the security they deserve” General Graziano stated during his interview with Obrana Magazine in the margin of his visit to Slovakia. The visit was also a great occasion to receive a comprehensive briefing about the Slovak Armed Forces and their commitment in the international operations.
