Political Support Officer

Ref No: PPI/PSO/2018/TEMP

The European Union (EU) is offering a temporary post of Political Support Officer in the Political, Press and Information Section (PPI) of the Delegation, under the authority of the Head of Delegation (HoD).

Detailed description of duties:

• Coordinate all election related efforts with PPI under direct guidance of HoD including preparation for missions from headquarters.
• Assist with coordination with Member States political advisors and Ambassadors on Election related issues.
• Prepare and take notes and minutes in Head of Mission meetings
• Prepare speaking points and flash reports for HoD on election and other political issues.
• Assist with drafting monthly political reports
• Drafts flash reports on any political related issues
• Advise and assist the Delegation on complex matters pertaining to Malawi politics and how culture and the media influence public opinion about foreign policy.
• Prepare and assist in meeting and missions from HQ
• Assist with consular cooperation in the context of elections (in absence of HOA)
• Assist where need be HoD with administrative workload.
• Assist with any other ad hoc duties where need be.

Qualifications:

• University degree, in Political Studies or any related field is required.

Experience:

• A minimum of 5 years' experience working in electoral processes or political analysis or a similar relevant work environment.
• Level of English as a working language must be excellent, both as spoken and written language.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for interview on Friday 21^st December 2018. Candidates who have not been contacted by Monday 31^st December 2018 should consider that there is no follow up to their application and the EU Delegation will not further advise unsuccessful candidates.

The vacancy is for a temporary contract of 5 months. Candidates must have a valid work permit and must present certificate of valid medical insurance.
