Team Europe conveys a message of hope and solidarity against COVID-19. The European Union and Member States, also known as Team Europe are contributing an additional MK 34.2 billion to ongoing nutrition and social protection programmes in Malawi.
The additional funds will be invested in addressing children’s needs and protecting the most vulnerable through the School Meals and the Social Cash Transfers programmes. This support is aligned with national plans and policies (Malawi COVID-19 Response Plan, Malawi National Growth & Development Strategy III, Malawi National Social Protection Programme II).

This component will be implemented by the World Food Programme in partnership with the Malawi Government.
MK20.2 billion will be dedicated to enhance food security and protect the most vulnerable through the National Social Cash Transfers Programme. This new amount will be added to the existing SoSuRe allocation of MK 34.2 billion, and will contribute to provide cash transfers to vulnerable households amidst the COVID-19 crisis.
This component will be implemented by KfW in partnership with the Government of Malawi.
