Unlocking the inclusive innovation potential of ACP countries

The African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States and the European Union has launched the ACP Innovation Fund Call for Proposals (EuropeAid/166663/IH/ACT/Multi), a substantial effort to boost and optimize science, technology and innovation capacities in ACP countries.

The focus of this call for proposals is projects that advance solutions in the areas of: digital literacy and emerging technologies, skills development, synergies in the innovation ecosystem, technology transfer, research uptake, local and indigenous knowledge.

 

Duration

The initial planned duration of an action may not exceed 48 months.

 

Types of actions that can be funded

Grants will be awarded to projects by non-profitmaking organisations with proven experience in managing research and innovation support funds. The priorities of this call for proposals are:

  1. Increasing access to digital literacy, knowledge and use of emerging technologies;

  2. Creating or strengthening effective links between research and innovation (R&I) skills development and labour market demand;

  3. Establishing or enabling synergies in the research and innovation ecosystem, including with the private sector; facilitating conditions for technology transfer; promoting R&I uptake;

  4. Promoting local and indigenous knowledge and its use in combination with formal knowledge systems and practices.

Deadlines

The deadline for submission of concept notes and full applications is 29 January 2020 at 18:00h (Brussels time).

Application procedure

Applications must be submitted in one original and two copies in A4 size, each bound. The complete application form (Part A: concept note and Part B: full application form), budget and logical framework must also be supplied in electronic format (CD-ROM or USB sticks) in a separate and single file (i.e. the application must not be split into several different files). The electronic file must contain exactly the same application as the paper version enclosed.

The checklist (Section 7 of Part B of the grant application form) and the declaration by the lead applicant (Section 8 of Part B of the grant application form) must be stapled separately and enclosed in the envelope.

The outer envelope must bear the reference number and the title of the call for proposals, together with the title and number of the lot, the full name and address of the lead applicant, and the words ‘Not to be opened before the opening session’.

Applications must be submitted in a sealed envelope by registered mail, private courier service or by hand-delivery (a signed and dated certificate of receipt will be given to the deliverer) at the address below:
