During the visit, a workshop was carried out to teach the participants about compassion towards animals and respect for the environment. Moreover, the youngsters learned about the EU’s experience in this field and what it is doing to support initiatives like these. The workshop was conducted by the expert from the Slow Food (EU-funded project in Azerbaijan) Yagub Zeynalov and Aliheydar Mammadov from the Animal Protection Union.
YEAs also facilitated discussions relating to animal welfare issues and humane interaction with stray animals.
The workshop participants will also discuss the European Convention on the Protection of Pet Animals which was ratified by Azerbaijan in 2017 but has not yet been implemented in the country.
The Young European Ambassadors initiative aims to foster cooperation and sustainable links between young people and youth organisations from the EU and its Eastern partner countries.
