Each EU mission works in the framework of a comprehensive approach. The mission works in agreement and coordination with the EU Delegations in the same area and in the framework of EU regional policies.
To mark the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the European Union in Lebanon is launching a photo competition on four human rights themes: freedom of speech, gender equality, refugee rights and fighting against torture.
To take part, simply snap a picture, post it on Instagram and make sure to follow the rules listed below:
The photo competition is open to anyone from the Middle East and North Africa region and based in Lebanon.
Maria and Sharbel are two young people who are working to empower youth in Jezzine through the Jezzine Hub – a youth-led community centre that offers support for innovative ideas that improve the region's socio-economic development.
Being part of the Jezzine Hub since its creation, Maria and Sharbel are able to engage with the youth in their community and contribute to their empowerment.
"After the inauguration of the Hub, I started to organise activities with the team and became part of the decision-making process with the management committee," Maria said.
The plant produces briquettes from pruning residues of olive groves and public forests.
Human rights are at the heart of the European Union's external action and the EU reaffirms its role as a leading global proponent of the promotion and protection of human rights. On 28 May 2018, the Council adopted the EU's annual report on human rights and democracy in the world in 2017.
