The projects aim to achieve urgently needed investment in sanitary landfills and the upgrade of the collection and transportation system in the cities and the neighbouring municipalities, resulting in an improved level of solid waste services. The action will finance critical solid waste investments for the City of Osh and four neighbouring municipalities, as well as solid waste investments for the City of Jalal-Abad and six neighbouring municipalities.

The project aims to support water and wastewater investment in Osh, Kara-suu, Cholpon-At and Kyzyl-Kiya.

On the European and World Day against the Death Penalty, the Council of Europe and the European Union (EU) reiterate their strong opposition to capital punishment in all circumstances and for all cases. The death penalty is an affront to human dignity. It constitutes cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment and is contrary to the right to life. The death penalty has no established deterrent effect and it makes judicial errors irreversible.
