In the current COVID-19 pandemic in Kyrgyzstan, the EU-funded project entitled “Promotion of Inclusive Education in the Kyrgyz Republic” provided assistance to two child care institutions in Bishkek.

The aid was delivered to Specialised Child and Family Rehabilitation Centre (Orphanage in Bishkek), which implements individual early intervention and medical-social rehabilitation, psychological and pedagogical correction and disabled children day care programmes; and the Krasnorechenskaya Specialized Boarding School (Chui region) for children with disabilities and orphans left without parental care.

Assistance included personal special protective equipment for COVID-19 for children and employees of these two institutions: 3 500 medical disposable masks, 3 500 gloves, 10 infrared non-contact thermometers (infrared scopes), 55 wall sanitizers and 60 5-liter antiseptic bottles, 400 disposable medical gowns.

“During the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, this is the most significant assistance provided to our Orphanage. We have 47 employees - teachers, nannies and medical workers, who do everything possible to ensure that our institution maintains all sanitary rules,” Cholpon Arykpaeva, Director of the Bishkek orphanage said.
