Kyrgyzstan gets first batch of vaccines via COVAX
It was the first shipment provided to Kyrgyzstan via COVAX facility. In total, Kyrgyzstan will receive 2,600,000 doses of vaccine through this dedicated instrument.
Deputy Prime Minister Jyldyz Bakashova and diplomatic corps including EU Ambassador Eduard Auer met the shipment at Bishkek's airport.
Ambassador Auer noted that it was only a first batch of vaccine as Kyrgyzstan is expected to receive 2,600,000 doses in total under COVAX facility.
"We are pleased to see improving vaccination rates in Kyrgyzstan. We are sure that with this shipment the campaign will be even better. COVAX facility is backed by many donors, including a one billion euros contribution from the EU," - Head of EU Delegation noted.
Deputy Prime Minister Jyldyz Bakashova thanked all the donors for the support and stressed that vaccination is the best way to fight COVID-19.
