A series of cultural and thematic activities will be held on the occasion of Europe Day 2019 in Kosovo starting from 6 May in Pristina and North Mitrovica


On the Europe Week we will open the new premises of what used to be called the EU Information and Cultural Centre. Now, it's Europe House in Pristina.

Two photo exhibition ‘Different perspective’ by Agon Nimani, and the ceramics exhibition ‘Glimmer of love’ by Gresa Islami, will also be officially opened this evening. Agon Nimani, a graphic designer by profession, shows us the power of aerial photography of various European and regional cities. At the same time, we are showcasing the work of a young promising artist – ceramics of Gresa Islami, who brings handmade ceramic artwork with clay base.

On Tuesday, will have the launch of the Economy Campaign by Head of EU Office/EU Special Representative Nataliya Apostolova. The economic theme campaign is the third thematic campaign organised by the Office, with the intention to showcase the successful EU assistance in Kosovo and the transformative power of entrepreneurship for the Kosovo economy.

In the evening of 7 May, we will have film screenings from the European Film Festival in both of our Europe Houses in Pristina and North Mitrovica. The selected films – Stranger in Paradise (Guido Hendrikx / The Netherlands) and Sami Blood (Amabda Kerneli / Countries: Sweden, Norway, Denmark) have been awarded with international prizes.

Moving on to Wednesday, 8 May, there will be the concert of the Belgrade-based pop band Artan Lili in North Mitrovica.

And of course, many activities on Europe Day itself – Thursday, 9th of May. There will be street activities organised together with the member states in the newly refurbished square just across Europe House and side activities for youth and children.

During the Europe Day reception, already for the fourth year now, the EU in Kosovo will present the European of the Year award to an individual or an institution that the EU in Kosovo considers has contributed the most to the promotion of the European idea in Kosovo over the course of the past year, and who could serve as a role model in this respect.

On the last day of the activities – 10 May – we will have painting and art workshop for children at the Europe House in North Mitrovica. And in the evening, the concert of distinguished violinist Olen Cesari and the International Clandestine Orchestra at the New Amphitheatre of University of Central Library, Pristina.
