09/11/2020 – Brussels – EEAS. HR/VP Josep Borrell underlines the importance of strong EU international engagement at a time of crisis. He calls on EU Ambassadors to be outward facing, results oriented and pro-active to make sure the EU handles the on-going battle of narratives.
The annual European Union Ambassadors` conference is taking place between the 9th and 13th of November, for the first time in a virtual format.
The conference brings together EU Ambassadors from the EU`s 143 EU Delegations and Offices around the world, in addition to the heads of EU military and civilian operations and the heads of the European Commission Representations in the 27 EU Member States.
The Management Board to the Development Fund for northern Kosovo awarded 3.5 million EUR for the construction of a Culture Centre in Mitrovica/ë North. With the approval of this project, the Board to the Development Fund has made an appreciable commitment towards the further development of cultural life and initiatives in this region of Kosovo.
The Heads of Mission of the EU and of Member States in Kosovo take note of the resignation of the President of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi. We appreciate the cooperation with the Specialist Chambers shown in recent days by President Hashim Thaçi and former PDK leader Kadri Veseli as well as Mr Rexhep Selimi and former Speaker of the Assembly Jakup Krasniqi.
The European Union takes note of the resignation of the President of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, and welcomes the fact that he has agreed to cooperate with the Kosovo Specialist Chambers and the Specialist Prosecutor’s Office.
31/10/2020 - HRVP Blog - Since the beginning of my mandate, I have been working on a new EU Global Human Rights Sanctions Regime. We are now at the final stage of a long and complex process to establish it. Once the legal instruments adopted by the Council, this regime would allow us to go swiftly after perpetrators, wherever violations occur. Let me explain what this new regime is about and how the EU institutional machinery works.
The EU has awarded 29 contracts this month worth 10.8 million euroin support of Kosovo’s private sector, and to improve access to the labour market, increase employment prospects for the youth, women and disadvantaged groups in Kosovo. The projects awarded also support early childhood education with the construction of six new kindergartens.
