Despite the overall progress achieved in terms of financial availability, access to financial services and financial inclusion remain a problem in the Republic of Tajikistan.
In the framework of the NICE-TAK project, funded by the European Union and co-funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany, the National Association of Business Women of Tajikistan (NABWT), with the support of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, in partnership with the Association of Microfinance Organizations of Tajikistan (AMFOT), the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in Tajikistan (EBRD) and the GIZ program “Promoting inclusive rural economic growth for the welfare of the population (TRIGGER)”, will run First National Conference on Financial Inclusion in the Republic of Tajikistan in August 2019.
The conference’s main goal is to identify and study innovations and innovative, specific financial products in both financial and non-financial markets that promote the access of low-income people to the financial services market.
The NICE TAK project, in tight cooperation with its partners, has run five round tables – in Dushanbe, Khujand, Bokhtar, Khorog and Rasht – as regional preparatory events focused on thematic issues as development of women's entrepreneurship, access to finance and education, development of credit unions, role of information technologies, etc. The results of the discussions held at the round tables will be eventually submitted at the Conference, which will serve as an effective platform for discussion and coordination of actions. The Conference will group together representatives of financial service providers from Central Asia, credit organizations of the Republic of Tajikistan, International Financial Institutions, the NBT, Parliament, Government, Entrepreneurs and business service providers. Representatives of all sectors and Entrepreneurs will share their experience in expanding financial services, introducing innovations, improving services, developing specific financial products that match business most urgent needs. The Conference will develop recommendations and concrete proposals to address the problems and difficulties hindering access to finance, the adoption of information technologies and to improve the Country's legal framework.
The Conference is held with the support and cooperation of the National Bank of the Republic of Tajikistan and the State Committee on Investments and State Property Management of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Secretariat of the Advisory Council for the Improvement of the Investment Climate under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan.
NICE-TAK (Networking Intermediaries & Competitive Enterprises in Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan) project is implemented by an international consortium, led by sequa gGmbH (Germany) and including five Partners: International NGO CESVI (Italy) in Tajikistan, National Association of Small and Medium Business of Tajikistan (NASMB), National Association of Business Women of Tajikistan (NABWT), Union of Craftsmen of Tajikistan (UCT) and Bishkek Business Club (BBC) in Kyrgyzstan.
The overall goal of the project is to promote small and medium-sized enterprises in Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan with a particular emphasis on the development of the handicraft sector. The goal is being achieved through capacity building and support of Tajik and Kyrgyz business intermediary organizations.
The Conference is planned to be held on August 15, 2019, in «Hyatt Regency» Dushanbe from 09:00 until 16:00.
