Are you a young graduate interested in international relations?  
Are you curious to learn more about work in a diplomatic mission and how an EU Delegation represents EU interests and values in Vietnam?

The Delegation of the European Union to Vietnam is looking for a paid intern starting as from 1 September 2018.

What do we offer?

A traineeship of 05 months within the Political, Press and Information Section of the Delegation of the EU in Hanoi, Vietnam.

The Political, Press and Information Section is central to the holistic and mutually-beneficial EU-Vietnam diplomatic partnership, which has been established 28 years ago.

In addition to publicising, explaining and implementing EU policies, the PPI Section functions as the permanent interlocutor of Vietnamese authorities, civil society organizations and other stakeholders regarding domestic and foreign policy, including security issues and cover also press and public diplomacy.

In close coordination with the EU Member States, the EU aims at increasing cooperation with the host country, supporting Vietnam's transition into an open rules-based society based on good governance and the respect for human rights, while simultaneously providing information on the policies and institutions of the EU. This led to the EU-Vietnam Framework Agreement on Comprehensive Partnership and Cooperation (PCA), which broadens the EU-VN cooperation scope in several areas including trade, development, tourism, cultural, energy and policy related issues.

This relationship is also used to seek information on the EU's contribution to regional integration and cooperation with ASEAN.

Main tasks:

  • Attending and helping organizing events and working groups meetings
  • Notetaking and reporting on meetings
  • Researching and compiling documentation
  • Assisting in the preparation of briefings

Additional requirements that would be an asset

  • Knowledge of the local language
  • Additional degree in another field (e.g. law)

Before applying you are requested to examine the general eligibility criteria for traineeships (Article 8 of the Decision ADMIN(2017)28 - Paid traineeship for young graduates).

Each selected trainee will receive a monthly grant to cover living expenses. However costs related to travel, insurance, accommodation and visa must be borne by the trainee.

Applications from non-eligible candidates will not be considered. After the evaluation of all applications, shortlisted candidates will be contacted and invited for an interview. Unsuccessful candidates will be notified by email. In case the selected candidate is not able to present the required documents, his/her candidacy will be rejected.
