1) Rehabilitation of cultural and religious sites and adjacent areas
2) Promotion and awareness-raising activities on intangible cultural heritage through engaging women and young people.
3) Develop local capacities to protect and preserve cultural heritage strengthened at the institutional and community level
It will build on the results of the previous phase and expand activities, covering a wider geographical scope and seeking the increased engagement of local NGOs. The development of cultural and rural tourism options is envisaged to render the protection of cultural heritage economically viable and attractive to communities. Local restoration camps will be established to bring together artisans and specialists in cultural heritage restoration to share experiences and pass skills on to younger generations. This second phase will not only focus on tangible cultural heritage sites but will also bring the communities together to work on intangible cultural heritage (such as traditions, performing arts, cuisine, crafts). Particular focus will be placed on engaging women and young people.
