I was pleased to meet today Kosovo's First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Hashim Thaçi for the first time in my new capacity.
We had the opportunity to exchange views on Kosovo's progress. We agreed that, now that there is a new government in Pristina, work should resume at an intensified pace in the EU reform agenda so that good progress can be made in the next year, both in its internal development and in its EU path.
We also discussed with DPM/FM Thaçi the resumption of the high level meetings in the EU facilitated dialogue. I intend to invite the two Prime Ministers to the next high level meeting already in January and I look forward to continuing our important work on the normalisation of relations between Belgrade and Pristina. For the EU and for me personally this remains a high priority. I am pleased that in the meantime work on implementation continues at technical level; there is still quite a bit of work to be done.
I look forward to working very closely with Hashim Thaçi and the new leadership in Kosovo in the coming period.
