High Representative/Vice-President Federica Mogherini has presented the third progress report on the implementation of the European Union Global Strategy, “The EU Global Strategy in Practice - Three years on, looking forward”, which will be discussed by the EU Foreign and Defence Ministers at the Foreign Affairs Council on 17 June 2019 in Luxembourg. The report looks at the progress achieved over the past three years, since the presentation of the Global Strategy in June 2016, in five priority areas - the security of the Union, state and social resilience to our east and south, an integrated approach to conflicts and crises, cooperative regional orders and global governance for the 21st century - and provides possible orientations for the way forward in the coming years.

Economic opportunities for thousands of small holders across Kenya are to be transformed under a new EUR 50 million (KES5.7 billion) agriculture sector financing programme, the Kenya Agriculture Value Chain Facility, launched by the European Investment Bank in Nairobi earlier today and supported by the European Union.

Today, an estimated 152 million children are victims of child labour worldwide. These 152 million children are being denied their right to have access to education and to a safe living environment. On the occasion of the World Day against Child Labour on 12 June, the European Union, alongside its international partners, reiterates its strong commitment towards guaranteeing the fundamental human rights of every child, as defined in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development target to end child labour in all its forms by 2025.

The development of the blue economy requires the control of crimes and incidents at sea. As a response, the EU CRIMARIO project advocates regional cooperation and inter-agency coordination, including training on maritime data analysis.
