Connectivity to electricity is a vital part of Kenya's development and this programme will connect 280,000 households in 32 counties to the electricity grid giving 1,500,000 Kenyans direct access to reliable supplies of electricity.

To achieve the goal of universal and sustainable electricity access, the necessary investments are high and not always commercially attractive for the private sector

The EU is supporting this connectivity programme with a major grant of 4.3 billion Kenya shillings (30 million EUR) that will help reduce the investment costs and make the project sustainable.
