NUR-SULTAN – Today in the capital city #Kids4Rights children's drawing contest dedicated to the 30th Anniversary of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child has been announced. The competition is organized by the European Union Delegation to Kazakhstan jointly with the UNICEF in Kazakhstan, the Embassy of Belgium in Kazakhstan and the Embassy of Switzerland in Kazakhstan.
On the occasion of the International Day of Democracy, the European Union reaffirms its commitment towards democracy as a fundamental right of every human being. Every woman and every man has to be free to participate to the political, economic and social life of her or his country. No one should fear to speak up, to demonstrate peacefully, to go to vote or to expect fair and inclusive policies from a government. Democracy can only function if participation and trust between democratic state institutions, governments and citizens are guaranteed.
NUR-SULTAN – Today on the eve of the new study season the pre-departure orientation session was organized for the winners of the Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters Degree scholarships at the EU Delegation to Kazakhstan. In 2019 a total of 2,273 master students worldwide have been granted a scholarship. From Kazakhstan around 585 applications were received and 39 students were selected, who will join the biggest education program of the EU.
On this first International Day commemorating the victims of acts of violence based on religion or belief, we pay tribute to all those around the world who lost their lives and suffered attacks because of their religion or belief. Persecution as a response to religious belief or affiliation, or lack thereof, is a violation of international law and requires joint work to combat it.
NUR-SULTAN, 22 July 2019 – The European Union provides EUR 2 million to realise a UNDP implemented, triangular project that will enable Afghan women to graduate from higher education institutions in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
Enhancing CSOs’ role in promoting good governance, accountability and independent judiciary; supporting the institutionalized dialogue between the state and CSOs; supporting actions to enhance social development, promote better education for marginalised groups and inclusive growth in full respect of the environment; supporting' actions to promote the respect for human rights and the rule of law - All these are priorities for Kazakhstan's engagement with Civil Society.
As we mark the International Criminal Justice Day, the European Union reaffirms its longstanding support towards the international criminal justice system and in particular its unwavering commitment to the International Criminal Court (ICC), as part of the EU's wider commitment to a rules-based international order.
The Council today adopted conclusions on the EU's priorities at the 74th UN General Assembly(September 2019 – September 2020). These conclusions complements the Council conclusions on strengthening multilateralism which were adopted on 17 June 2019.
