Kick-off meeting of "Step to the future" project

On September 9, 2021 kick-off meeting of the "Step to the future" project gathered more than 40 participants. The project is being implemented by ANO "Aura" with the financial support of the European Union. The main goal of the meeting was building capacity of stakeholders to improve the quality of life of people with disabilities in the post-pandemic period.

During the kick-off meeting recipients of mini-grants presented their projects. Among them: ceramic workshop for people with disabilities in the Kaliningrad region; excursions to enterprises in order to find places for further employment of people with disabilities; accessible environment at a number of facilities in the Polessk and Gusev municipalities of Kaliningrad region; accessible cafe on the territory of the “Amber sail” sports center; trainings for non-working men and women aged 45+; inclusive greenhouse on the territory of the "School of the Future" in the village of Bolshoye Isakovo.

In five regions outside Kaliningrad region - in Kazan, Petrozavodsk, Voronezh, Moscow, Ulan-Ude, work will be carried out to improve the professional competencies of people with disabilities with the aim of further employment, a video guide on an accessible tourist route will be created, and the creation of accessible environment will continue.

“Our goal is to help people with disabilities have comfortable living conditions on the territory of the municipality. We are confident that the three-year joint work will contribute to the realization of this common goal. <...> Thanks to the support of the European Union, we have expanded our resources and are ready to help our partners in the Kaliningrad region and beyond, who are aimed at improving the lives of people with disabilities, to become financially stable”, said Svetlana Nigmatullina, director of the ANO "Aura".
