Starting Soon: Photography Residency Programme 2026

The EU Delegation is pleased to present the programme of the upcoming Photography Residency taking place in Amman from 17 to 23 April, organised in partnership with the Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts and under the artistic direction of photographer and artist Tariq Dajani.

The residency will bring together 15 photographers from Europe and Jordan to explore the theme “People, Land, Memories.” Photographers from Cyprus, Greece, France, Spain, and Slovenia will join ten Jordanian photographers for a week of artistic exchange, discovery, and collaboration. During this time, participants will explore Amman and surrounding areas, sharing perspectives and capturing stories that reflect Jordan’s landscapes, communities, and lived experiences.

OPEN LENS – Residency Programme

In addition to their creative work, a series of evening workshops and sessions open to the public will take place as part of the OPEN LENS – Residency Programme, designed to encourage dialogue between photographers, cultural professionals, and photography enthusiasts.

  • Saturday 18 April | 19:00 – 21:00
    Express Yourself Through Photography with Tariq Dajani, artist and photographer.
  • Sunday 19 April | 19:00 – 21:00
    Visual Storytelling: Between Photography and Cinema with Amjad Al Rasheed, writer and director.
  • Tuesday 21 & Wednesday 22 April | 19:00 – 21:00
    Talk with Resident Photographers – Meet the artists and learn about their creative journeys and experiences during the residency.

Exhibition Opening

The residency will conclude with an exhibition showcasing the works created during the week. The opening will take place on Thursday 23 April at 20:30 at the Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts (Building 1, 3rd Floor).
The exhibition will remain open to the public for two weeks.

Photography for a Cause

Photographs produced during the residency will be available for sale at accessible prices. This year, the proceeds will support the Princess Taghrid Institute, which works to assist vulnerable communities in Jordan through social support, education, and community development initiatives.

Through this initiative, the EU continues to support cultural exchange, creative collaboration, and Jordan’s vibrant artistic community while linking culture with meaningful social impact.
