EU Continues Support as Jordan’s Public Administration Becomes More Efficient and Accountable

On the occasion of the National Dialogue "Towards a Strategic Partnership with Civil Society in Developing Public Administration in Jordan (2026–2029)", organised as part of the EU and AECID co-funded project NAZAHA, and hosted by Al Hayat Center -  RASED, the EU reiterates its support to the public sector reforms, and recognises the pivotal role the civil society plays in co-shaping the Public Administration reform, as well as the Economic Modernisation Vision at large.

The EU understands that the civil servants are at the building bricks of such complex reform endeavour, having supported the Service and Public Administrative Commission to build a capacity building plan and trained more than 800 Human Resource and Institutional Development Units' staff; offered EU technical expertise through three twinning support measures to Audit Bureau.

In partnership with OECD and Jordanian Integrity and Anti-Corruption Commission (JIACC), the EU delivered the Public Governance review and the Public Integrity Study. In October 2023, Jordan was successfully removed from the so-called grey list under the EU list of non-cooperative jurisdictions, in part also due to our assistance on tax compliance matters through the Global forum.

We are proud to also support further education of fellow public servants through an ongoing twinning project with the Institute of Public Administration, as well as capacity building of MoPIC and MoFA staff, in cooperation with College of Europe, to enhance their understanding of EU External Actions and build on the EU - Jordan relations.
