Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority Chief Commissioner Receives EU Ambassador for Bilateral Exchange and Interactions with Entrepreneurs from Southern Jordan
The Chief Commissioner was accompanied by the Commissioner for Youth and Tourism, H.E. Dr. Thabet Alnabulsi, and the Commissioner for Economic Affairs and Investment, H.E. Dr. Mohammad Abu Omar for a bilateral exchange. This bilateral exchange focused on ongoing cooperation and opportunities to enhance private sector growth and investment in southern Jordan.
The visit included a “Meet & Greet” session with local entrepreneurs supported under the GIZ-implemented Entrepreneurship for Sustainable Economic Development and Employment (E4DE) project, co-funded by the European Union and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). In this session local entrepreneurs had the opportunity to share their experiences and discuss the challenges they face. They explained how they benefitted from the E4DE project and ASEZA’s support, highlighting the positive impact of the Aqaba Entrepreneurial Network (AEN) on their businesses which is a product of the E4DE project and is now led by ASEZA.
The E4DE project is implemented by GIZ and the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship (MoDEE) in partnership with ASEZA and is co-financed by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the European Union (EU).
ASEZA presented the key pillars of its 2024-2028 strategy to the Ambassador, outlining its projects and programmes and reaffirming its commitment to improving the entrepreneurial environment in the region and promoting sustainable growth.
The visit highlighted the strong collaboration between the Aqaba Governorate and the European Union, reflecting shared initiatives and a mutual commitment to supporting local entrepreneurship and economic development.
