The European Commission’s European Civil protection and Humanitarian aid Operations (ECHO), funds relief operations for victims of natural disasters and conflicts outside the European Union. For humanitarian aid, the Commission works with about 200 operational partners, including United Nation agencies, the Red Cross/Crescent movement and non-governmental organizations (NGOs). Aid is channelled impartially, straight to victims, regardless of their race, ethnic group, religion, gender, age, nationality or political affiliation.


The ECHO Regional Office in Amman, which is covering the ME & EN region; is seeking to recruit one national staff to be based in Amman for the following position of:


Human Resources Focal Point (HRFP)

As a part of the Jordan country team, the HRFP will carry out activities such as:

  • Ensure the implementation of corporate HR management systems through the region.
  • Assist in the recruitment of National Staff in the region.
  • Act as focal point for all HR related issues concerning National Staff, amongst other, focal point of health insurance for the region, verification of health insurance expenses, training and evaluation.
  • Maintain staff files and an updated staff database for the region.
  • Carry out administrative tasks (including financial tasks) for HR related issues.
  • Other duties indicated in the Terms of Reference and given by the supervisor.


The candidates for this position need to demonstrate the following criteria:

  • A relevant first level university degree or equivalent experience;
  • 5 years relevant working experience. If the candidate does not have a relevant university degree, ten years’ work experience will be required;
  • Experience in General Administration and Finance is an advantage;
  • Experience in a non-governmental organisation or an international organisation is an advantage;
  • Excellent drafting skills;
  • Ability and willing to work in a multi-cultural environment;
  • Flexibility to travel to all the countries included in the ME & EN region;
  • Experience in the use of computers and office automation software (MS Word, Excel, etc.).
  • An excellent command of English & Arabic (written and oral).

This is a local posting for nationals open to other residents of Jordan with a valid work and residence permit. The contract is initially for one year with the possibility of renewal subject to a 6 months’ probationary period. As an indication, the monthly basic salary is on average approximately JOD 1,647 which corresponds to 5 years relevant work experience. The salary will be adapted according to the exact duration of relevant professional experience supported by a work certificate. In addition to this, the employee will also receive disability/retirement allowance, 13th month salary as well as a medical coverage.
