Following on the huge success of the previous two years, the Delegation of the European Union (EU) to Japan, together with EU Member State embassies and cultural institutes in Japan (EUNIC), will once again organise a three-day literature festival from 2 to 4 November in Tokyo to encourage the Japanese public to gain first-hand knowledge of Europe's literary scene.
The festival will showcase writers and experts put forward by 15 EU Member States under the common theme「越境する欧羅巴文学（The Transcending of Borders in European Literature）」. Several prominent Japanese authors will also be taking part, including winners of the renowned Akutagawa Prize.
Furthermore, organisers this year pay tribute to the graphic novel, with a session dedicated to this genre of books.
During the three-day event, writers from Europe will join experts from Japan to participate in a variety of events including lectures, dialogues, and panel discussions to reflect on European literature from various viewpoints.
Details of the festival are as follows:
Dates: 2-4 November 2019
Venues: Instituto Cervantes de Tokio, Istituto Italiano di Cultura Tokyo and the EU Delegation to Japan
