"The only way to implement the Sustainable Development Goals in health care is by using a multilateral, multi-sectoral and multi-institutional approach on every target and every level", Commissioner Andriukatis said. The annual summit was organized by Le Temps and Politico, and brought together European and global policymakers, industry leaders and key actors in health care to discuss the political health care agenda as well as efforts to globally increase access to health care.

Mr. Andriukatis participated in a panel discussion on "The Road Ahead  for  SDGs: Health Agenda for 2030", giving insight into the concrete steps the EU undertakes in order to reach the ambitious 2030 Agenda. The panel further discussed improving the well-being of citizens through education and prevention of substance abuse such as tobacco. International movement of health care workers was debated extensively, as were strategies to increase the number of trained health care professionals in the face of ever increasing global demand. "Health touches upon all areas of the EU Commission's work", Andriukatis emphasized, "Stopping diseases and avoidable deaths is not only about institutions but about all actors."
