Within the framework of Team Europe, the European Union in Chile and Movidos por Chile launched an alliance to deliver 5,133 food kits to 18 civil society organizations to be distributed to 20,532 people in vulnerable situations throughout Chile.

Movidos x Chile is a project of the Community of Solidarity Organizations (COS) that seeks to articulate the efforts of civil society organizations to respond in a coordinated manner to the pandemic. Understanding the serious health, economic and social crisis derived from the pandemic, this network has been working actively to support the territories and communities in vulnerable situations, which have seen their situation worsened as a result of COVID19.

The Head of Delegation of the European Union in Chile, Leon de La Torre Krais, stressed that “the EU’s response to the pandemic has to be based on solidarity and working in alliance with those organisations active on the ground“.

The Executive Director of Community of Solidarity Organizations, Hans Rosenkranz, highlighted that “This virus is having huge effects worldwide, keeping the world on alert and concerned. Today more than ever, a community of vision that transcends borders, a true international cooperation that allows us to share experiences and support each other among countries, is essential. It is therefore a great opportunity to be working collaboratively with the European Union ”.

Over the next few months, this project expects to achieve a total coverage of 8,031 food kits, which will benefit 32,124 people in nine regions of the country.
