Second round of the EU-Aus Free Trade negotiations
A team of EU negotiators will be in Canberra for round two of the EU-Australia Free Trade negotiations from 19-23 November. The ambitious FTA could see trade in goods increase by 37% and services by 8%, according to the EU Delegation to Australia's impact assessment. Successful agreements with New Zealand and Australia will contribute an estimated €4.9bn to the EU's GDP by 2030 and €4.2bn to Australia's economy. EU-Australia Leadership Forum
More than 150 policymakers, business leaders, young professionals, innovators, educators and media are coming together to shape the future relationship between the EU and Australia. European Commission Vice President and High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini and former European Council President Herman van Rompuy open the prestigious forum, which runs from 18-22 November. More than 50 young professionals will participate in the Emerging Leaders Forum before joining 100 recognised leaders for the final days of the program including discussions on western democracies, women's leadership, digitalisation, data protection, space cooperation and industry 4.0. EuroVisions: Contemporary Art from the Goldberg Collection
As part of the European Year of Cultural Heritage, a major exhibition will showcase the diverse work of a new generation of artists working in Europe. From traditional painting and sculpture to innovative photographic and digital works, artists include Urs Fischer, Katharina Grosse, Ugo Rondinone, Wolfgang Tillmans and Rudolf Stingel. Food for Thought: Geographical Indications Day
From prosciutto to prosecco, how do geographical indications (GIs) boost branding, tourism and economic growth in Italy's regions? What can Australian producers learn from the EU experience? The Embassy of Italy, together with the EU Delegation, is hosting a GI Day on Saturday 24 November in Canberra. An expert panel wil discuss GIs in the context of the Free Trade Agreement negotiations.
