We are

The European Union (EU) is an economic and political partnership between 27 European countries. It plays an important role in international affairs through diplomacy, trade, development aid and working with global organisations. Abroad, the EU is represented through more than 140 diplomatic representations, known also as EU Delegations, which have a similar function to those of an embassy.

The EU Delegation to Israel represents the European Union in Israel. It presents the EU's positions and interests to the Government of Israel, with the overall goal of advancing relations between the EU and Israel.

We offer a post of Political, Press and Information Assistant in the Political, Press and Information Section. Under this post, the recruited person will be attributed functions depending on the needs of the Delegation and on the changes of these needs. The successful candidate will serve under the supervision and responsibility of the Head of the Political, Press and Information Section. The assistant will provide daily support to the Head of the Political, Press and Information Section, as well as more general administrative support to the political, press and information section as a whole, including through assisting our EU coordination work with the EU member states' embassies in Tel Aviv.

The ideal candidate should be well organised, service-oriented, flexible, and able to work under tight deadlines and pressure. Additionally, the position requires a resourceful team player who demonstrates an extensive ability to exercise confidentiality and professionalism at all times. The candidate must have good drafting and communication skills in English and Hebrew. The candidate will be required to quickly attain competency with the European Union’s procedures and IT tools.

We offer a competitive position in an international environment. The base salary will depend on relevant and verified employment experience, typically starting from 11,212 ILS and including benefits package according to the Israeli Law.

Functions and duties

Under the supervision of the Head of the political section, the selected candidate will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Undertake daily media monitoring and prepare press reviews, in close cooperation with the section's press manager
  • Undertake procurement tasks, according to EEAS procedures and guidelines, related to the delegation's press and information budget, including budget planning, execution, and the preparation of expenditure reports for HQ
  • Assist in the section's overall public diplomacy efforts, including managing correspondence with the general public, uploading content to the delegation's website, etc.
  • Assist the section in coordinating the delegation's liaison with EU embassies in Tel Aviv (including organizing meetings, distributing reports, maintaining updated contacts and distribution lists, etc.)
  • Other administrative tasks for the section (arranging meetings, helping organize missions abroad and facilitate missions to Israel from HQ, etc.)
  • Undertake ad hoc short translations English/Hebrew when needed (the delegation engages an outside translator for most such work)

Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum two years professional experience in similar tasks to those mentioned above
  • Fluent in Hebrew and English (speaking, reading, writing)
  • Very good computer literacy, excellent knowledge of Excel
  • An Israeli citizenship or a valid work permit for Israel

Assets:

  • Completed secondary level education
  • Knowledge of Arabic and/or other EU languages.
  • Knowledge of EU rules and procedures
  • Previous experience in International Organisations and/or embassies

The procedure

After the deadline for applications, the eligible applications will be reviewed by a Selection Committee set up for this purpose. The Selection Committee will prepare a short-list of candidates who are considered the most suitable for the post based on a preliminary assessment of the information provided in their application letter and the supporting documents. The short-listed candidates will be invited to an assessment phase, which will consist of an interview and a written test.

Only candidates admitted to each successive selection phase will  be contacted individually; The Delegation will use the same means of publication as for this job advertisement to inform the remaining candidates once the recruitment procedure has been completed and that a candidate has (or has not) been recruited.
