Tempus - ECOSTAR symposium Tel-Aviv University

This morning, 5 January, Lars Faaborg-Andersen, Head of the EU Delegation to Israel, gave a speech at the ECOSTAR-TEMPUS Symposium at Tel Aviv University.

"The European Union has already shown its commitment to our partnership with Israel when it comes to education, science and research. Through the partnership under Horizon 2020, the European Union had become one of the country's most important sources for research funding. Your country is also the European Union's privileged partner for international academic cooperation through TEMPUS, ERASMUS MUNDUS and ERASMUS+ programmes," Lars Faaborg-Andersen said.

"I firmly believe that academic cooperation and mobility not only improve quality in higher education. They also open avenues for mutual understanding that run deep through our cultures, and are among best forms of people-to people contacts," the EU Ambassador added.

The ECOSTAR Symposium was the culmination of a three-year TEMPUS (December 2013 – March 2017) project funded by the EU. ECOSTAR provides tools for modernizing and standardizing English language teaching in higher education in Israel.

At the symposium the Ambassador met Professor Raanan Rein, Vice President, Tel Aviv University as well as Dr. Linda Weinberg, Head of English Studies Unit ORT Braude College of Engineering.
