The European Union and Ramengvrl team up to promote sustainable energy
New track highlights how sustainable energy can empower Indonesian lives
Jakarta, 15 April 2026 – The European Union launches a new campaign in collaboration with the renowned Indonesian rapper and songwriter Ramengvrl. Titled ‘I’ve got the power’, this initiative celebrates the partnership between Indonesia and the European Union, working to improve access to reliable, affordable and sustainable energy for people across Indonesia, which means cleaner air, safer communities and more jobs. The campaign showcases how projects backed by the European Union are delivering innovative and sustainable energy solutions that unlock new opportunities for Indonesian communities and individuals.
Track full of positive energy
Central to this campaign is a vibrant new track by Ramengvrl inspired by the key role energy plays in people’s lives. Ramengvrl, known for her unique blend of Western and Southeast Asian hip-hop with a contemporary pop edge, created this song to inspire listeners to imagine a brighter future shaped by tradition and innovation.
"Making clean energy available to everyone is a shared ambition by Indonesia and the European Union," emphasised H.E. Denis Chaibi, the EU Ambassador to Indonesia. "Our strategic investments in sustainable energy are powerful catalysts for substantial economic growth, significant job creation and better living standards for Indonesians. Through our collaboration with Ramengvrl and her music, we want to highlight the productive partnership between Indonesia and the European Union, how it impacts daily life and promotes a resilient, prosperous future for all."
"As an artist, my music aims to spark conversation and challenge perceptions, especially among the next generation," states Ramengvrl. "This campaign allows me to use my voice for a cause I deeply believe in - empowering Indonesia's future through sustainable energy. It’s about more than just electricity; it’s about providing the consistent power for innovation, education and dreams. I'm excited to share this new track and hope it inspires a collective vision for a brighter, greener Indonesia."
Music video features Indonesian real-life stories
The music video spotlights real stories of Indonesians who transformed their lives through better access to energy. Among them is Manda, a dedicated badminton player and coach. She took over her father's club, which now benefits from reliable lighting in the training halls. This helps foster focus in young players and allows them to train effectively after school. Likewise, Ilham, co-founder of a popular coffee shop, finds his artistry grow stronger with a steady electricity supply. Both Manda and Ilham illustrate the profound, everyday empowerment sustainable energy initiatives bring to Indonesians.
Digital voices energise this campaign
Digital creator Dita Kerang and the youth collective Pandawara Group are joining the campaign to help bring the conversation on clean energy to wider audiences online. Known for their engaging content on environmental protection and community action, they will help turn complex energy topics into relatable messages. They will encourage broader engagement for the transition to reliable, affordable and sustainable energy.
Projects in close partnership
Underpinning these efforts, the European Union’s Global Gateway investment strategy supports key initiatives vital for Indonesia's prosperity and environmental stewardship. This includes Indonesia’s Just Energy Transition Partnership – a major programme aiming to expand renewable energy – such as solar, wind and hydropower, and gradually reduce coal-fired electricity. Through this programme, with a total of €3.4 billion in investments, grants and loans, the European Union is supporting Indonesia’s power sector decarbonisation. How? By upgrading electricity networks, adding more renewable energy to the grid, phasing out coal and supporting faster renewable energy development.
