The Delegation of the European Union (EU) to Indonesia has launched this year’s annual journalistic writing competition EU4Wartawan themed “The impact of COVID-19 on the role and rights of Women in Indonesia”.

The competition – launched on 27 October and will conclude on 25 November 2020 – is held in collaboration with the Alliance of Independent Journalists (AJI) and the Indonesian Women Coalition (KPI). The competition is open to all journalists from official print and online media across Indonesia.

EU Ambassador to Indonesia, H.E Mr. Vincent Piket said, “During the coronavirus pandemic, women have been at the frontline in various aspects of life and are disproportionately affected by the crisis. EU4Wartawan is an opportunity for Indonesian journalists to explore how COVID-19 has affected the lives of women and girls; to bring the issue into the limelight and in turn encourage to rebuild more equal, inclusive and resilient societies.”
