The first EU-ASEAN high-performance computing (HPC) summer school is a virtual programme open to students interested in learning from leading international experts in the field from the EU and ASEAN. This virtual school is supported by the Enhanced Regional EU-ASEAN Dialogue Instrument (E-READI).
E-READI, established in 2017, facilitates dialogue between the EU and ASEAN in priority policy areas of joint interest and further strengthens the overall EU-ASEAN strategic partnership. Since the identification of the need for a shared ASEAN HPC facility by the ASEAN HPC Task Force, strong interest has been expressed in cooperating with European experts and profit from their experience in the sharing of regional resources, training capacities, and experiences with HPC applications.
In this context, some ASEAN Member States students participated in the ACM summer school on HPC https://europe.acm.org/2019-acm-europe-summer-school, and, in December 2019, ASEAN experts followed a week training at BSC in Barcelona, Spain, and now, as a practical follow-up of the EU-ASEAN HPC Dialogue, the First EU-ASEAN HPC Summer School is being planned for summer 2021.
Students, coming from IT and domain specific science backgrounds (from undergraduate to young post-Doc) in ASEAN are expected to join.
Lecturers will be a mix from EU and ASEAN countries with the option of remote lecturing, MOOC
