Duration: 5 years (July 2014 to July 2019)
EU funding: €10 million
Implementing partner: UNDP
The EU-funded Support for Justice Sector Reform in Indonesia (SUSTAIN) programme was recently completed after five years of operation. The €10 million programme, funded by the EU and implemented by UNDP, was launched in July 2014. The programme has strengthened the rule of law and consequently enhanced public trust in Indonesia's judicial system through a series of initiatives aimed at improving integrity, transparency and accountability of the judiciary.
One of its key achievements included the development of digital innovations, such as SIWAS or Sistem Informasi Pengawasan (Control Information System), and SIPP or Sistem Informasi Penelusuran Perkara (Digital Case Tracking System), to enhance internal and external oversight mechanisms of the judiciary.
SUSTAIN has also contributed to improving the technical skills and gender sensitivity of Juvenile, Environment and Administrative court personnel, including judges, registrars and bailiffs.
